MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE ST AUBIN RESIDENTS’ ASSOC ON 8th February 2010  AT LES BURINS AT 7.00 pm

Present :  MHP,  GJ  ,GF, DW , SK                Appologies:  VK & MN

It was mentioned that the website was not up to date and GJ is to attend to this and the minutes of the meeting 11th January adjusted.

PHARMACY: Family Nursng met last week and now are awaiting confirmation re the delivery service.

“WHAT’S YOUR STORY?’ - Rue du Croquet is to feature in this event on SATURDAY NOVEMBER 20th at the Jersey Archive Centre . Apparantly we had the highest number of letters suggesting this area.

DEFIBRILLATOR : The potential purchase of a defib for the village was discussed in detail. The initial cost is £1620 which includes the training of 6 people to use it. There is then refresher courses at £32 each , and replacement of battery/pads at £120 & £19 repectively.  The problem of where it should  be located was mentioned and although the Parish Hall would at first appear to be ideal, it has been turned down. GF has some knowledge of a rota system that works in the UK and is to investigate further. The general idea is that trained volunteers would have the defib in their possession and there would be a central mobile  number to call when required.

PLANNING : Bentcliffe - MHP has met with the new owner , who intends  to live at the property. There will be changes but they do not appear to affect much in the area. Byron House has plans in for slight alterations . The “booster station” near the railway walk - plans are not altered but have been resubmitted. Hotel La Tour - The plans for this developement say that they have the same “footprint” as the existing property, however the 5 houses in the plans appear to be built directly next to the road with gardens at the rear. MHP to keep us posted.

AGM - Booked for the Thursday 22nd April - MHP to approach Graham Evans to give a talk. New committee members were discussed and 4 names were put forward as suggestions.  These   people are to be invited to the next meeting.  GJ would like to stand down as secretary. Written notice with the agenda has to go out by April 1st.

FUND RAISING : This will be required for the Defibrillator.  A summer bar-b-q was suggested at La Haule Manor  for approximately 50 people in early September. SK to approach the owner with the idea and it was agreed that good  publicity is a must.

OTHER BUSINESS : DW mentioned the Tourism Developement Fund is looking for causes     involved in encouraging tourists.  SK mentioned hanging flower baskets would be welcoming if they covered a larger area and GF suggested that a sculpture of the St Aubin emblem (a Cod) would be a far more desirable feature than our boat of flowers. This is to be looked into.

The next meeting was scheduled for March 22nd at Les Burins at 7.00 and it is hoped that the suggested new committee members can/will attend.

There being no further business the meeting ended at 8.15
