MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE ST AUBIN RESIDENTS’ ASSOC ON 7th December 2009  AT LES BURINS AT 7.00 pm

XMAS LIGHTS :  It was agreed that the evening of the 2nd December and the Xmas lights had been a complete success and that huge thanks were due to Susie and Murray for all their organisation and coordination of the evening and to Di and Margi for their persistance in obtaining the lights themselves. It is thought that there was nearly 300 children, who all received presents - supplied by the Boat House - from a very patient Father Christmas and it was agreed that GJ should arrange a gift to be delivered  to Rod Cobon asap. La Haule Manor had approached SK with an offer of help ( accepted with suggestion of donation ) and if we do this again next year Nat West are to be included. SK had also personally thanked Mike V for all his help.

ZEBRA CROSSING : It is thought that we should have a “press opening “ of the crossing and MN is thought to have access to a  large cardboard Zebra. DW is to contact MN as it is hoped to have the opening on Friday the 11th at 12.00pm. If we cannot get the cardboard zebra , a zebra suit was suggested. We will contact Annie, Phyllis Simon with a view to a photo , perhaps with MHP & DW.

PLANNING : Since the last meeting the electricity sub station in Chemin des Pietons has changed hands twice. There has also been plans submitted and rejected for 9 flats to be built on the old quarry site in the road running alongside and up from the railway walk - next to Valentine Cottage.

COMMITTEE : It is with great regret that we have the resignation of Annie and we all agreed that she will be sadly missed. GJ will send note of thanks.  It is also thought that Tash will be resigning too.  It is thought that we should have a General Meeting to encourage new members.

WEBSITE ; GF has spoken to James who is frustrated that all his work in setting up the website has gone to waste. It was agreed that we should pay him £350 in part settlement of his fees and that it was also imperative that we find someone to run the website properly GJ to email all members  and arrange cheque as mentioned.

COMMITTEE XMAS MEAL : Booked for Cheffins at 7.30 for Monday 21st Dec. GJ to email   members  to confirm numbers by Dec 14th.

ITEX WALK : MHP has been asked if we could supply people to run the St Aubin check in for the Itex Walk next June. We all agreed that we could get a rota together , nearer the time.

ENTENTE FLORALE ; SK mentioned that someone had suggested that St A could have flowers to greet visitors (Hanging baskets etc ) at which point MHP brought up the Entente Florale. This is a larger project , involving a cost of £10,000 - not available from Tourism - but a huge amount of publicity . Details of this will be circulated.


OTHER BUSINESS : GF suggested a Cross of lights for the Fort - to be worked on for next year.
