XMAS LIGHTS - NEWS FLASH  !!!  - MN & SK have been meeting with the Nigel and Gavin from the Boat House re the turning on night for the lights and a mutual date of Tuesday 1st December at 7.00 pm has been agreed. The Boat House has some childrens’ toys that they will donate to make lucky dip type presents and even fireworks have been mentioned. There will hopefully be singers, maybe craft stalls if they are interested and mulled wine & mince pies will make Father Christmas feel at home too.  They hope to ask a celebrity (Derek Warwick) to turn on the lights and it is hoped that this will all be co-ordinated so that the lights all around St A go on at once. DJ Lummy has also been mentioned for music and it was agreed to invite Rotary to come rattle some tins.

This will all need to be well advertised - MN offered to prepare flyers/posters and a route of delivery was worked out. The Bulwarks/Market Hill - MHP, Mark Le Riche has offered to help so we may give him the Mont Les Vaux area, GJ & RJ will take the High Street upwards and the route to La Haule by Paul, Tash & Cookie ( to be asked ) or SK if not.

Other items to book are the Parish Hall - both for Nov 29th afternoon for wrapping presents and Dec 1st in case of rain.  SK offered to do this (& confirm in writing) & it is also necessary to have the carpark closed for the early evening at least.  GJ is to e mail Christopher Davey re the church lights to see if they will join in the “light up”.

MHP reported that the lights are being put into the trees and that SARA is to make a donation of £1700 towards the cost.  She also reported that MJ had finally sent the old lights away for refurbishment, but, of course, they would not be back for this Christmas. On a similar note it was suggested that we should ask MJ if there were any plans to turn off the lights around the Bulwarks as some decorative lighting has been removed for the winter in St Brelade’s Bay.

PLANNING - Cliff House development has been refused and the next move could be an appeal in the Royal Court.   Plans were shown of the proposed development at Hotel la Tour and they have the same “footprint” of the existing buildings. There is a problem with the pipe that is under part of the land and HL is to dig part up to see if he can find the cause. The Dept of the Environment is concerned.  HL has also mentioned donating the covenant relating to Hotel la Tour to the SARA. The plans for Bentcliffe include an infinity pool on its roof - MHP to keep an eye on progress there.

WEBSITE - it was decided to have a separate meeting with GF on his return from holiday.

FORUM FOR ST AUBIN - RJ has been asked by various residents if this was every submitted to the States.  A letter was suggested to Deputy Wimberley as he attended the weekend.

PHARMACY - MHP had been approached by a pharmacist with a suggestion that there could be a drop off service for prescriptions AM said that this had been considered in the past but there was a problem with who could receive them.  MHP to talk to her pharmacist and let us know.

A HUGE THANK YOU is due to both Murray and Susie for all their wonderful work and how much they achieved in such a short time! Let’s all get together and work on making this a success as it has already been suggested that it could become an annual event.

Next meeting - provisional 7th December Monday to be confirmed.
