MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE ST AUBIN RESIDENTS’ ASSOC ON 1st October 2009  AT LES BURINS AT 7.00 pm

Present : DW, MHP, SK & GJ             Appologies: NS, MN, GF, VK, AM

DW reported on the meeting ref the Xmas Lights held on the 22nd September.  She had spoke with Kevin Lemasny , who was impressed that we had raised around £4000 and although had       previously hinted that we had lost the TDF funding, now said that they would match our money.

Following on from the next meeting with MJ and KL , MHP and DW confirmed that the lights were ordered. We are paying for lights and TDF paying for the underground wiring. They consist of 12 sets of tree lights  and new lights for the tree outside the bank. The Parish are paying for 3 strands of lights to wrap around the building. Thoughts are that the “big” lights should be “binned”, but they may still be refurbished. Watch this space.  Many thanks to DW and MHP for their persistance and time.!

We must plan the celebration “Turning on party “ as soon as we have a date. MN’s offer of a   banner was appreciated, the Father Christmas put on warning and maybe a lucky dip for children.

This brought the discussion to the Battle of Britain party.  Generally it was a success, especially the raffle which raised the most money, but as SK mentioned, we must build on what we had learnt. i.e in future we must confirm the Parish Hall and Janet, ensure that advertising is done well in advance and generally all work harder together.

Cliff House : Petition is in with MJ and Sarah Ferguson has also called for a Parish Meeting ref the possible disruption. The provisional date for a Parish Assembly meeting is 13th October so once confirmed, we must e mail members to attend.

Hotel La Tour - MHP has had a call from the owner who has asked for residents to consider 4   options for the hotel area  a) To make the hotel commercially viable  b) To knock it down & build flats c)  Sell it to a developer d) to build 4 Georgian style houses with underground parking.

DW suggests that we await the decision re Cliff House and the road, before doing anything re the above.

Harry also told MHP that “Bentcliffe” had been sold to a developer who is wanting to build and   increase the height. He has a covenant to keep the height the same as it is. It is right in front of his hotel.

Website - GF is talking to JM and MN is offering to make a new one. This must be discussed with them in person. but it was agreed that we cannot afford the current £107 per quarter.

Bank account - MHP is to see VK at the weekend as we now need the means of paying for our lights.

GJ brought up the subject of the bus stop on behalf of MN.  MHP reported that there is to be a meeting with Mike Jackson on Friday 9th October at 4.00 pm in the Parish Hall to discuss parking in St Aubin and all interested parties can attend , so hopefully we can bring up the subject then.

There being no further business, the next meeting was scheduled for Monday 2nd November at Les Burins at 7.00pm

Meeting closed at 8.15
