MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE ST AUBIN RESIDENTS’ ASSOC ON 1st September 2009  AT LES BURINS AT 7.00

PRESENT MHP, MN, AM, SK, DW NS, GJ         APPOLOGIES :  GF, VK,

The party on the 10th Sept was discussed , along with the progress on the sale of the raffle tickets. Various jobs were allocated to members - MN to be in charge of wine/music/poster and is to ask his contacts for publicity.  MHP/GJ  to assist Janet with food and to begin preparation around 5 pm on the day. NS to help with waitressing etc and SK to continue her selling of raffle tickets. GJ is to purchase plates/decoration etc.

Xmas Lights - They are booked to go to Glasgow in September to be refurbished at a cost of £186 each ( there are 18 units) = £3348. transport at £4000 is being paid for by the Parish (per MJ) The conclusion is that no local electricians would “touch” them. DW is to attend the next official meeting ref the lights at the Town Hall on Sept 22nd to confirm.  The SARA has offered to pay the refurb cost and , hopefully, following on from the raffle and party there will be sufficient available.

When the lights are up and ready to be turned on, it is proposed to have a small Xmas celebration in the village and a mention of Father Christmas was made.  MN also mentioned that once the lights are working , we must be very careful how they are stored in the future. The St Brelade depot was suggested.

Zebra Crossing - MHP has seen various TTS staff around and feels that the November timing might actually happen. There is also someone looking at parking.

Planning - rumours about St Cecilia /Hotel La Tour joining up appear to be untrue. DW reported however, that the building firm involved with St C appear to just do whatever they like with total disregard for planning etc.   Cliff House - application will be looked at in about 3 weeks and Sean Power is drawing people together to arrange a public meeting on this subject.

Website - We have had two invoices for the website , which have been forwarded to VK for settlement.  It is proving more expensive than originally thought and we must have a word with JM. Will await a chat with GF for this.

MN has met with Natalie Parkin , who has stated that the Traders Assoc is more or less finished. There was much discussion about the Tourism fund, which, sadly does not appear to be available any more. MN also mentioned a letter to the La Baguette - drawn up by Jeff Hathaway -  that he is amending . Copies will be emailed to all committee members.

Horses - MN mentioned the frequency of horses riding up High Street, against the traffic and leaving a mess behind them.  GJ confirmed that she had also received a complaint from other residents.  MN had spoken to the rider and was told that she has permission to ride up the wrong way untrue as we know ) and did not plan to take her horse on the other roads as it was too dangerous !  We all agreed that somehow we must try to find out whose horses they are - and Yes, following them home was suggested. 10.00am on a Saturday appears to be a regular time.

The meeting closed at 8.30 and the next is to be held at Les Burins at 7.00 on 1ST OCTOBER.
