MINUTES OF THE COMMITTEE MEETING OF THE ST AUBIN RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION HELD AT LES BURINS ON WEDNESDAY 5TH AUGUST 2009 AT 7.00 PM

PRESENT: MHP, DW, GJ, GF, SK                APPOLOGIES;  VK, NS, AM & MN

Discussion of the Party for the 10th Sept took place. Sue Kowzan has done an outstanding job of obtaining numerous raffle prizes , ordered 1500 tickets , which are being printed - free of charge - by MAILMATE - which are to be sold for £1 each and drawn on the night of the party. It was decided that tickets for the event are to be £7.50 which includes food and 2 glasses of wine and £3.00 for children. MN has offered to make a poster to advertise and will be asked to arrange purchase of the wine etc.  Janet is on notice for food with  general assistance from MHP & GJ. These 2  members of committee will meet to discuss plates etc .

PLANNING - Hotel La Tour has withdrawn the application for the grass bank . Cliff House has put in revised plans in which the build has moved but is now bigger than previous plans.

ZEBRA CROSSING - MHP & GJ attended a meeting with MJ , Rob Cabot and others to see the plans for the proposed crossing , which is to be located on the corner by the Natwest bank. The central island will be enlarged , beacons will be recommended (although hooded if they disturb any residents) and construction could begin in November.  Mike Jackson wants an “Urban Design Survey “ of the whole of St Aubin to take place before this can be completed.

XMAS LIGHTS - a price for the renovation of the lights has been agreed upon and this appears quite reasonable however the carriage of around £2000 does not.

MHP is to arrange meeting with MJ to put our suggestions forward as the next official meeting about the lights is not until 22nd Sept and this may be too late.

SK mentioned that on her hunt for raffle prizes , the donors were particularly keen to hear that the Xmas lights were, hopefully, coming!

MHP had a copy of the Financial statements for the Parish of St Brelade which show that we are to have a 2% rate increase.

GF mentioned the continual presence of a green wheelie-bin was spoiling the look of the High Street and this too is to be mentioned to MJ .

The committee would like to express special thanks to Sue Kowzan for all her hard work with the raffle and to generally encourage any residents who think they may be able to sell raffle tickets to please contact her on 742242 or 07797747228

The next meeting was scheduled for 1st September at Les Burins at 7.00 pm
