MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE ST AUBIN RESIDENTS’ ASSOC ON 6TH JULY 2009 AT LES BURINS AT 7.00 PM. PRESENT: MN, AM, MHP, NS, GJ APPOLOGIES : DW, GF, VK,SK The meeting with Mike Jackson , MHP and GJ on the 22nd June was discussed . The potential outcome on the Zebra Crossing is that it has been agreed ( after traffic monitering) that a crossing would be placed between the NatWest Bank and Checkers. This site is preferable as there is a decent view both ways of the oncoming traffic, a central reservation already in place and it would slow the traffic in both directions. This should be paid for out of the TTS fund . MHP reported attending a meeting to discuss Xmas Lights on an Island wide basis at the Town Hall on the 24th June. St Aubin was the first topic on the agenda. Mike Jackson was in attendance and it was concluded that we have options for our light problem. Refurbishment of existing lights (MJ’s preferred action) / dressing the trees on the approach to St A / dressing the Bulwarks / dressing the area outside Checkers ( after asking them for a contribution) The next meeting to discuss this matter is to be held on 22nd Sept 2009. The party to be held on Battle of Britain evening Sept 10th was discussed in detail. Action points as follows:
MN is to arrange 1940’s style music. Timing 7.30 to 10.00. Price to be kept as low as possible.
Ilsa is to be asked to arrange for the tickets / posters and general publicity. It is to be advertised as a “Late Summer Soire” , fancy dress optional with a prize for the best. Also,c an we get hold of the “squeeze-box” player? Does anyone know how? It was reported that MJ had at last said that there would be NO resident parking in St A as he thought it was not necessary . It was agreed that the encouragement of people to use the bus to visit St A to eat ( and drink) must be increased as much as possible. Connex are working hard to support this with the “rapid bus” and more later buses. It was thought that we should thank Connex and maybe invite them to our party in September. MN asked why we now had new red bollards on a bus stop that MJ had said was moving? The website was brought up and MN presented the meeting with a fabulous home page template which could be used as a poster for delivery to all residents . This is to be used asap. On the subject of planning, the news that La Tour is being left to deteriorate was seen as no surprise. The date of the next meeting is the be Wednesday 5th August at 7.00pm.
