MEETING AT LES BURINS ON SUNDAY 20TH JULY 2008 RE LA TOUR HOTEL

There were 27 residents of the High Street present and all were handed a copy of an undated letter to MHP received a week previous and another letter received that day. Copies will be attached for information.

These events had begun with a verbal discussion between Harry Lyngard & MHP following which HL had written the first letter in which he stated that he intended to start building work on the hotel in October 2008. He said that his plans were for 2 self catering units and a penthouse flat. He also mentioned a "live" application for 11 parking spaces. HL said he was prepared to explore a residential option & asked for "direction" from the street.

In this letter he said that if he received a letter from local residents within 7 days he would put plans on hold. The second letter appeared to differ from the first.

It was mentioned that HL believes that the street wants the grass bank removed and parking provided there. If the hotel becomes flats then it would have to have parking. The Roads Committee have apparently approved removal of the bank. The cost was discussed as HL thought it would be in the region of £300,000 .

There were many objections to the removal of the bank - mess, lorries, noise. increased traffic and the size of the planned area, once dug out was 3 stories high. HL had mentioned that the proposed changes at St Cecilia & Mont de la Rocque would impact on his hotel etc. and that this would be a suitable time to remove the bank.

It was suggested that it was very difficult to object to non - specifics, HL had asked for support but for what? In reality the plans are with planning and not approved as HL had hinted in his letters and we cannot discuss objections without plans. GF pointed out that the bank does belong to HL and should he choose to do so, he could remove it and demolish it and let it become an eyesore.

ea previous owner had done this). It is waste land. HL had also mentioned in his first letter something about aerial problems. This was thought to be a bargaining point that HL would remove aerials if we agreed to other things.

Apparently there were several conditions attached on the last planning refusal and although the hotel was a site of special interest HK was trying to change that.

Much was discussed about parking problems. The fact people park and ride their bikes into town thereby taking up spaces all day. Residents parking permits were mentioned. All of which would have to be put to the Connetable (again).

Many people thought that HL has no thought for the future of St A , is only interested in making money in selling the hotel (with plans) and some queried why we should reply to him at all?

In conclusion it was decided that all those present did NOT want the grass bank removed for any reason and that a letter is to be written to the Connetable with a copy to the Roads Committee and planning. We will then forward a copy to HL at a later date ( not before his

Tuesday deadline) RJ & MHP will prepare and send to Mike Jackson on behalf of the residents.
