MINUTES OF THE COMMITTEE MEETING ON THE 23RD JUNE AT HAUTEVILLE, HIGH STREET, AT 6.30 Present AM, MN, RJ, GJ, GF, SK, POW, VK. Apologies CT, MHP, NS There was confirmation that the bank account is open at last! The hall is booked for the 30th June Q & A session and raffle tickets will be ready to sell. It was decided that we shall have a few questions put forward on behalf of those who cannot attend and then it will be audience participation. MN suggested that we have horseshoe style seating with MJ and SF being on floor level with us all. MN is happy to be compare and just requested that we have a microphone. This is to be arranged with the caretaker of the Parish Hall. We will have a table with blank cards and pens available for people to submit questions if they are too shy to ask themselves. MN will be playing "devils advocate" but will also make sure his own questions are included. SK then brought up the letter from MJ to the Association re parking permits. A copy of his reply was distributed. Then followed a discussion on the subject of parking etc. VK mentioned that his wife had been to see MJ about the number of people parking in St A and using their bikes to go to work in town, thereby filling a free space in St A for the day. We discussed the format of the reply to MJ and the fact that we should have positive suggestions to give him on the subject. It was suggested that a sign saying no commercial vehicles would stop the taxi firm 'feeling they were being targeted, a suggested nominal fee of £100 p.a. to be charged for resident parking and that the areas for residents parking should be the High Street to La Hau!e, up to Mont de la Rocque, the North pier ( which does not appear to be being used any more as people are not sure about what the parking rules are about this area) and the landslide. VK suggested that in order to make things easier the parking areas should be multi-use I.e non commercial resident and scratch card. The suggestion of " double decker parking" was mentioned but it was thought that it would probably not be acceptable in this area. It was agreed that the overnight parking of taxis and cars belonging to commuters etc must be sorted out. Currently it is thought that we have a least 20 cars that relate to Citicabs in one shape or form. PDW mentioned that whatever we did there must be consultation with the emergency services to avoid the problems of the avenue! This related particularly to the herringbone parking suggested in MJ's letter. He also mentioned that Arthur Morley has offered to come and talk to the St AA and we must keep this in mind and perhaps write to him after the meeting on the 30th. It was concluded that we shall wait until after the 30th to reply to MJ. It was confirmed that MJ is going to run for Connetable again The meeting concluded at 7.40 and we all agreed to meet at the Parish Hall at 7.00 ( or a bit before to arrange the chairs) on the 30th. |
