MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COMMITIEE OF THE ST AUBINS RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION HELD ON MONDAY 21ST JANUARY 2008 AT MURRAYS AT 6.30PM

PRESENT: MURRAY NORTON, ANNIE MALLETT, SUE KOWZAN, NATASHA STONE, PETER DURHAM-WAITE, MARGI HOLLAND PRIOR, GORDON FITZJOHN, VIJAY KHAKHRIA, CHRIS TOMPKiNS, ROBERT JONES AND GILL JONES.

The minutes from the public meeting of the 13th January 2008 were distributed.

The registered address for the Association was discussed and it was decided that we should ask the Connetable for the use of the Parish Hall address for our purposes. RJ to approach M Jackson on behalf of the Association.

Vijay agreed to his appointment as the Treasurer and that once the Constitution is registered to opening a bank account at the local NatWest Branch in St Aubin.

RJ advised that he is having a meeting on Wednesday 23rd January with a view to setting up a website. MN suggested that this can be used as a forum where people can put forward views in a chat form, it can be used to advise of future meetings and generally helps members keep in touch. It was mentioned that perhaps the forum should be moderated with various committee members having a password in order to be able to moderate the site. A "Mission Statement" was also discussed which can be made a part of the website. i.e. that the purpose of the Association is to represent the views of the majority of residents of St Aubins.

It was mentioned that there should be a defined area for the residents that can become a member and POW was asked to look into this matter, perhaps by obtaining a photograph from planning to assist.

The "Model Constitution" was then discussed and amended accordingly. First draft to be issued as soon as possible. The cost of registering this is unknown at present, however, RJ is to look into this.

The subscription was discussed and it was decided to be set at £3 per person ( not £5 per household as previously suggested). It is to be collected, whenever possible, by standing order, although it was agreed that some exceptions would probably have to be made. In order to reduce overall costs, all contact with members should be by email where possible and also via the Parish Hall notice board.

AM mentioned that she had already spoken to members of the senior citizens society about the Association and hoped to spread the word in that way.

The Forum of the weekend 25th was then discussed and the general concern over the bias of possible participants. The visitors group is made up of members of tourism and it was agreed that members of the committee attending the forum should ensure that details of members of the steering group were obtained

MN mentioned that he had spoken to Paul le Claire who had details of a planning meeting where possible land reclamation around Jersey was to be discussed. He felt that politicians such as Freddie Cohen etc would be open to persuasion on this issue and that we must make a public display of our concerns about the results of the forum

The next Committee meeting was scheduled for Monday 11th February 2008 at 6.30 at Murrays.
